Progress in electronics is often measured by how much more power and features can be obtained from smaller and smaller packages. Responding to a growing demand in the sound reinforcement industry for more powerful and reliable amplification in small packages, QSC developed the PowerLight 4.0 without sacrificing the rack size, ratio of watts per pound, and of course audio performance.
With a reputation for sound quality and reliability, the PowerLight 4.0 features QSC’s PowerWave technology, a revolutionary switching power supply that provides ample current to the audio power circuitry, by charging the supply rails 230,000 times a second through an ultra-low impedance circuit. Unlike amplifiers that use conventional supplies, the audio signal is never starved prematurely and remains crisp and clean. Additionally, PowerWave cuts waste heat and boosts reliability.
The PowerLight 4.0 amplifier also boast a set of useful features. Individually selectable clip limiters lower distortion and protect speakers, and a standby mode allows remote AC control. A wide range of connectivity is provided.
- High output stereo power amplifier with individual output levels for bi-amped applications
- Advanced, low noise balanced inputs have 20dB more common mode rejection
- Balanced differential feedback from both output terminals ensure higher damping factor and greater control at all frequencies
- Functions in stereo/parallel/bridged mono modes
- Detented gain controls facilitate easy gain matching
- “One Knob” bridge mono control maintains balance and full protection with reduced risk of operator error
- Road-tuned clip limiting provides a transparent backstop to outboard program limiters, allowing the operator to concentrate on the program dynamics and average power levels rather than exact peak limiting
- Remote AC standby allows amplifiers to be switched on remotely without inrush surges
- Full-flow thermal design exhaust at the front, drawing cool air into the rack instead of waste heat
